Young star in demand after SuperSport United sold their PSL status
”I’m very positive that before the start of the new season, Mahlangu will be involved in a pre-season with one of the PSL teams."
SEBOKNENG.- A local superstar, Thabang Mahlangu, is one of the SuperSport United players in demand.
This followed after the club sold their long-time PSL status to a top businessman who is said to be related to the minister of sports.
Mahlangu, who was part of the SA U20 National Team that won the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), was promoted to the SuperSport United senior team last season. SuperSport United is well known for promoting unknown players to the senior team, who then move on to make a name for themselves.

Thapelo Maseko is one of the players the club promoted to their senior team, and became a household name in South African football when he joined Mamelodi Sundowns. However, unfortunately for Mahlangu, the club had to sell its top-flight football status due to its financial challenges.
Mahlangu was promoted to the United senior team after his impressive performance for the club’s reserve team, otherwise, DSTV Diski Challenge Team. He is one of the youngsters who hoisted the Vaal flag high.
A source close to the players said many PSL teams have already chased his signature, and very soon, he will be in the books of one of the top teams in South African football.
His age and talent are some of the reasons why many teams are interested in securing his signature.
”I’m very positive that before the start of the new season, Mahlangu will be involved in a pre-season with one of the PSL teams. It is a work in progress, with so many teams already making their intention clear to sign him.
He is one of the best promising youngsters in South African football, and it was not by fluke that he was part of the Amajita team that won the gold medal at AFCON.
Not only that, to make it interesting, the team also made history when they qualified for the U20 World Cup,” said a source close to the player. Sedibeng Ster Sport will follow this with key interest.
