Murderer and rapist sentenced to 22 years behind bars

SEBOKENG.- A 28-year-old man was sentenced to 22 years’ direct imprisonment by the Sebokeng Magistrate’s Court recently.
It is said that on October 18, 2023, at about 01:00, the accused, from Avondale Road, Evaton, forcefully took a 17-year-old girl from a tavern in Adam’s Road to his aunt’s place, where he raped her. The accused’s aunt is said to have arrived, finding the girl and the accused in her home, where the girl was crying.
Police spokesperson. Constable Thulisile Msibi. said that the aunt tried to reprimand the accused, but he became angry and took out a knife and stabbed the aunt behind the shoulder.
“His uncle also tried to intervene, and the accused stabbed him on the left side of the chest. He was declared dead on the scene. The accused then took the girl to his stepfather’s house by force, where he raped her the whole night until the police arrived in the morning and arrested him.”
The accused was recently sentenced to 14 years for murder, eight years for rape, and six months for assault.
