MIDVAAL – Midvaal Local Municipality has once again been recognised for good governance after being named the best-performing municipality in Gauteng at the inaugural 2025 Municipal Performance Awards.

The awards, hosted by the South African Property Owners Association in collaboration with Ratings Afrika and the Banking Association of South Africa (BASA), recognise municipalities that excel in financial health, governance, fiscal discipline, and service delivery.

Additionally, the awards focus on local governments that balance their books, safeguard public resources, invest in infrastructure, and create conditions for communities and businesses to thrive.
Midvaal received the prestigious award in acknowledgment of its outstanding contribution to the property sector, particularly in promoting municipal sustainability.

Speaking on the achievement, executive mayor Peter Teixeira says, “Midvaal is honoured to receive this recognition and award. This achievement would not have been possible without our dedicated staff members and public representatives, who work tirelessly not only to ensure legislative compliance but also to uplift our communities and drive sustainable growth and development.”

Teixeira thanked residents for their continued commitment to paying rates and taxes, stating that their support plays a crucial role in ensuring the municipality remains sustainable.
