HEIST of Combo U12 Diski Challenge kicks start over the weekend
“I work very hard at training, and our coaches want the best from us. He pushes us hard at training and always tells us that talent without hard work won’t take us anywhere."
SEBOKENG.– It was action galore when the Emfuleni Local Football Association (ELFA) development teams kicked off their 2025 HEIST of Combo Diski Challenge campaign at the Saul Tsotetsi Sports Complex in Zone 14 on Saturday.

This U12 Top 16 Tournament is the first of its kind in Sedibeng, aimed at giving rising soccer stars a platform to showcase their talent. The tournament follows a points-based group stage format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout rounds. It was a great advertisement for grassroots football, with future Bafana Bafana stars displaying their skills.

Polokong FC’s young goalkeeper, Vuyisile Dyasop (12), was one of the standout performers on the day, despite his team losing 3–2 to Vaal Gardens Sports Academy in the opening match.

He was the busiest player on the field, holding his ground despite being let down by his defense. His ability to read the game was impressive.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport after the match, Dyasop shared that his dream is to play top-flight football.

When asked who his favourite goalkeeper is, one thought he would say Itumeleng Khune. However, he surprised this journalist by naming Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Sipho Chaine, citing his distribution as something he admires. Dyasop also played a sweeper-keeper role, always alert, especially when his defenders were caught asleep. He did all the basics right and at his tender age, was a step ahead of his attackers.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, in the presence of his coach, Dyasop said his dream is to become one of the greatest goalkeepers in South African football.
“I work very hard at training, and our coaches want the best from us. He pushes us hard at training and always tells us that talent without hard work won’t take us anywhere. When I watched the game on TV, I only concentrated on goalkeepers because I want to improve as a goalkeeper,” he told Sedibeng Ster Sport.
