SEBOKENG.– A student group called Peak Performers from the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) recently partnered with the Badumetse-Batho Centre, an organisation dedicated to supporting the LGBTQI+ community and victims of geneder-based violence.
The partnership aimed to provide meaningful assistance while celebrating Heritage Month under the theme Changing the Dynamic.

As part of the initiative, the students donated sanitary pads and toothbrushes to benefit five girls and five boys, along with furniture, stationery, and equipment to aid the centre’s daily operations. Fresh fruit was also provided on the day of the event, ensuring that the programme catered to both practical and immediate needs.
Peak Performers donated a variety of essential items, including:
• Fruits (bananas and apples)
• Juice and food for cooking
• Chairs
• Typek paper
• Sanitary pads for five schoolgirls
• Toothbrushes for five schoolboys
Beyond the donations, the group also assisted with cooking and distributing food, ensuring that everyone who attended the event was well cared for. This contribution reflected their strong commitment to community service. The day was not only about donations but also about building connections.
The students engaged the children in games and shared words of encouragement with both the youngsters and the broader community.
Through this partnership, the group demonstrated that supporting heritage is not just about celebrating culture, but also about uplifting others and creating spaces where everyone feels valued and seen. Their collaboration with the organisation marked a meaningful step toward changing the dynamic and building an inclusive community.
