Xhosa tribes unites for cultural heritage

The celebration was later joined by the Sesotho speaking people who came wearing their beautiful traditional regalia.

SHARPEVILLE.- A Heritage celebration was held at Phase 3 recently bringing together different families.

The event began with a warm welcome by Gadlama Sapho and Mboniswa Dlamini, who both emphasised the importance of preserving cultural identity while celebrating diversity.

“Heritage Day reminds us our roots, languages and our traditions that form the foundation of who we are today.” Gadlama said.

It was indeed a wonderful day for Xhosa speaking people in the Vaal, who came together wearing their colourful traditional regalia representing Xhosa cultural backgrounds, eating traditional food and drinking their traditional beer ‘Umqombothi.’ Parents and elders expressed their joy of seeing young people embracing their roots, while learning more about their identity.

The celebration was later joined by the Sesotho speaking people who came wearing their beautiful traditional regalia. The attendance of Basotho was highly appreciated by Mangwanya, who further appreciated the unity in diversity. The celebration ended with a collective performance, symbolising harmony and togetherness.

The organiser, Mzoxolo Masoka, hailed the event as a success and pleaded for unity in diversity.
