Family and friends bid farewell to beloved ‘Ausi Tlaki’

"She shared great ideas, motivated a lot of her learners to be leaders.”

SEBOKENG. – Her passion for education and sports showed until the end.

These are the only words that can describe late educator, Matlakala ‘Ausi Tlaki’ Makgalemele (72), who was laid to rest on September 27.

For friends, family, and colleagues alike, it was sad to say their last goodbye to a beloved Makgalemele, who was an inspiration to many. In her career, Makgalemele taught at numerous schools, including Phehello Primary School and Tshitso Primary School, where she was also passionate about sports, particularly netball.

A family member, Martha Sibusi, spoke about her sister’s kind heart and her journey as a dedicated teacher.

“My sister worked tirelessly at several local schools, and even after retiring, she continued to work at Boiketlong Primary School. She was passionate about her work and was well-known for teaching her learners netball.”

To celebrate her life, staff and learners honoured her memory with heartfelt hymns and songs she used to sing with them.

Makgalemele’s children, Mamadisa and Thapelo Madisa, were comforted by the support they received from family and friends.

“Our mother was very disciplined, loving, and respectful, and she taught them about life. She shared great ideas, motivated a lot of her learners to be leaders.”
