All systems go for 2025 matric exams
The National Senior Certificate exams kick off next week in Gauteng, beginning a six-week academic journey for thousands of Grade 12 learners.
GAUTENG — The 2025 matric examinations officially get underway next week, marking a crucial milestone for thousands of Grade 12 learners across the province.
The first exam, Computer Applications Technology (CAT) Practical, takes place on Tuesday, 21 October, with 12 736 candidates expected to write in the morning session.
Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane says the department is ready to ensure a smooth and secure examination period, with all districts and schools having completed preparations. Measures include tightened security around exam papers and support systems for learners and invigilators.
This year’s National Senior Certificate exams will see candidates from both public and independent schools sitting for written papers that run until the first week of December.
Chiloane wished all learners success and urged parents and communities to support the Class of 2025 during what he described as “a defining moment in their academic journey.”
