SEDIBENG.- What we ask is proper communication from all the sporting organisations in Sedibeng.

This correspondence is directed to all sporting administrators, including football, netball, athletics, basketball, and karate, to mention but few.
In most cases, we get late correspondence from those who are tasked with communicating the message.

Yours truly, Zakes’ Sports Corner experienced this culture of last-minute correspondence from the sports administrators in this region.

Zakes’ Sports Corner thought it would be better to address or engage those who are in power regarding the frustration we experience as journalists or media. You cannot expect journalists to jump when you call them at the last minute to attend your event(s).

It is unprofessional to say the least!

Those who have been elected or appointed to communicate the message must take the responsibility. The problem with other organisations is that they are being run like “tuck shops”. There is no accountability when some of them fail to perform their duties.

It can’t be business as usual!

The truth is that sports deserve better than this because they involve mass participation.

Communication is everything, to say the least!

Zakes’ Sports Corner message is for those who have been tasked with communicating with the media; they must do their job, or heads will roll!

The problem arises when organisations or individuals accuse the media of not covering their event, but either they inform us at the last minute or not at all. And when asked whether they invited the media, they will lie with a straight face. The truth is that you can’t elect or appoint incompetent people and expect them to perform to the best of their abilities.

Another point in case, Zakes’ Sports Corner can’t remember the last time I received any correspondence from SAFA Sedibeng regarding the Hollywood Men Regional League fixtures and results.

It is safe to say this organisation is not functioning.

Zakes’ Sports Corner has been told that VUT FC is the overall winner of the Nedbank Cup in this region, but we have yet to get a report from SAFA Sedibeng. Zakes’ Sports Corner hopes this will be addressed by those organisations that don’t take the media seriously or consider them at the last minute.
