Tsoaranang teacher nominated for prestigious award
“Returning to teach at the very school where I once studied is a true symbol of resilience and commitment."
SHARPEVILLE.– Tshepiso Phase 1’s Tsoaranang Primary School has a star in their midst.
The school recently shared that one of their grades 4-7 educators of Life Skills, Life Orientation and EMS, Tsholofelo Tsotetsi was recently nominated number one in the National Teaching Awards under the category Excellence in Teaching Life Skills.

Tsotetsi journey to this achievement began through my involvement in the Baswa le Metši Youth Programme, which aligns closely with the Life Skills curriculum.

Through this initiative, her learners showcased their talents by performing a praise poetry piece that made it all the way to the national level.

This experience led to her nomination for the National Teaching Awards, where she was honoured to be selected as number one at the provincial level in the category of Excellence in Teaching Life Skills and later represented Gauteng at the national event. Although she did not win at the national level, this was an incredible and humbling experience that has strengthened Tsotetsi’s passion for education and youth development.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster she said, “Returning to teach at the very school where I once studied is a true symbol of resilience and commitment — a reminder that with dedication and community support, dreams do come full circle. Thank you for considering sharing my story. I believe it will inspire young people and fellow educators in our community to keep striving for excellence.”
