Safety tips from SAPS

The station commander, Brigadier Thembekile Kubone, urges community members to always be alert and not to disclose any financial status or their movements to the public, as this puts them in a vulnerable situation.

SEBOKENG – A rise in business and house robberies in Sebokeng has prompted police to urge members of the community to practice extra caution and vigilance.

The station commander, Brigadier Thembekile Kubone, urges community members to always be alert and not to disclose any financial status or their movements to the public, as this puts them in a vulnerable situation.

“Criminals tend to change their crime trends and, in most cases, tuck-shops, cash and carry stores, pension recipients, RAF recipients, and Stokvel savings recipients are most likely targeted.”
SAPS emphasises that one should always be aware of their surroundings, not talk to strangers, and keep personal information private.

“Be cautious at ATMs by shielding your PIN, avoiding poorly lit areas, and never accepting help from strangers. On the street, avoid displaying valuables, walk in groups on well-lit streets, and be aware of scams like phishing or unsolicited calls asking for personal details.”

Kubone and her Management would like to extend their gratitude to community members. She adds that the community’s efforts in assisting the police to curb crime are a great act of support.

Community members are urged to contact Sebokeng SAPS on 0824989563, 0164662047, 112, 10111, 0860010111, or alternatively via the MySAPS App.
