Car hijacking and kidnapping investigation in Boitumelo
The second suspect forcefully pulled him out of the truck and instructed him to lie on the ground on his stomach.
SEBOKENG.- A case of car hijacking and kidnapping is being investigated by the Sebokeng police after they were summoned to a scene in Boitumelo on the evening of October 16.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane, said that it was alleged that the victims were on duty utilising a company vehicle (installed with a trailer) as they were going to deliver the customer’s items.
When they reached Boitumelo the customer opened the back gate.
That is when one of the victims went to the trailer and unwrapped the customer’s items that were to be offloaded, while the other (victim) was sorting the invoice, when he heard a sound of a firearm being cocked.
“He further saw an unknown man pointing a firearm at him and was instructed to get out of the vehicle. The second suspect forcefully pulled him out of the truck and instructed him to lie on the ground on his stomach. His colleague (the second victim) was brought by the other suspect and he was forced to join his colleague (the first victim) on the ground, and they were both searched,” Mokhachane said.
She added that the victims were further taken to the suspect’s vehicle and their vehicle ( the victims’) was also driven by one of the suspects to an unknown direction.
“They drove for some time and suddenly stopped at the N1 bridge. The victims were ordered to look at the right side where they saw flashing lights and they were told to go and get their vehicle. The suspect’s vehicle drove off and the victims walked to their vehicle. Upon inspection, the victims noticed that the items they were transporting were stolen.”
The police plead with the public to assist with any information that may assist with investigation.
