SEBOKENG. – Soul Truth Music, in partnership with the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM held a groundbreaking music industry workshop, the Selaelo Selota Masterclass: The Business of Music at the Eldorado Hall, Zone 14 last week.

Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Executive Mayor, Sipho Radebe, graced the occasion with a keynote address as he welcomed Selaelo Selota.

In his presentation, Selota reminded those in attendance that the “music starts with that (a) melody, it can be one, two, or three melodies.”

He spoke passionately about the process of music composition and arrangement, reflecting on his own journey through music masters last year, a pursuit he continues to this day. He also encouraged musicians to “laminate those regret letters and rejection notes from judges,” reminding everyone that, “the ultimate judge is God, who gave you your talents.”

The powerful masterclass aimed to empower emerging and established artists within the Emfuleni region by equipping them with the knowledge and practical tools needed to succeed in the competitive world of music.

Selota lead the session, sharing invaluable insights from his decades-long career in the industry. Attendees gained a deeper understanding of the business side of music, including income streams, artist management, marketing, and strategies for building longevity and sustainability as a creative professional.
