President Square Vaal’s new look

To celebrate the relaunch, President Square Vaal will host a series of opening festivities featuring local talent, interactive activities, and exciting giveaways, running until 1 November 2025.

VANDERBIJLPARK – The President Square Vaal Shopping Centre officially opened the doors to its revitalised and expanded destination today, marking an exciting new chapter for the landmark retail hub.

Owned by Vaal Square (Pty) Ltd under the Bentel Group, the centre’s extensive redevelopment now boasts a modern new look, a larger footprint, and a dynamic mix of tenants, offering the Vaal community more variety and choice.

“This relaunch marks an important milestone for the centre as we continue to grow with our community, creating a vibrant shopping experience that brings people together,” says Selwyn Bentel of Bentel Group.

The upgraded centre has expanded by approximately excess of 31 000m², having added approximately 6800m² of new retail space.

The expansion has welcomed 32 new stores, ensuring the centre provides a full-spectrum shopping experience:

  • Fashion: A major boost to the fashion lineup includes Adidas, Superga & Kappa, IBO & Converse, Fashion Fusion, Soviet, Senqu, and Rage, joining existing popular retailers.
  • Banking: New additions include Standard Bank and FNB branches, along with Old Mutual.
  • Specialty: A curated selection of new tenants includes a strong “value industrial and outdoor” offering with Gelmar, Outdoor Warehouse, Jonssons Workwear, and ACDC Express, alongside new dining and home furnishing options.

Visitors will also benefit from free Wi-Fi throughout the centre.

The redevelopment project, financed by Standard Bank and designed by No Logo Architects together with the Bentel Group, prioritised community benefit:

  • Job Creation: The construction and new store openings generated approximately 800 new jobs, with a focus on local recruitment.
  • Sustainability: Key upgrades include the installation of solar power.
  • Convenience: A redesign of the entrance façades creates visual balance, while ample parking (across basement and ground levels) and a relocated taxi rank closer to the hypermarket significantly improve visitor convenience.
