
SEDIBENG.- South Africa’s U17 National Team kicked off their 2025 U17 FIFA World Cup campaign in impressive fashion when they beat Bolivia 3-1 in a Group A opening match on Tuesday. This victory marks a historical win after their appearance in 2015.
Emile Witbooi, Neo Bohloko, and Shaun Els scored for South Africa.
The result will boost Amajimbos’ confidence ahead of their second game against the tournament hosts Qatar, on Thursday (today).
This was an outstanding performance from the South African team. Securing victory with such a high score was beyond what many had anticipated. Even the SA U17 National Team Coach, Vele Khumalo, was left in awe of his players.
Khumalo was full of compliments for his team, commending their determination and composure on football’s biggest stage.
Amajimbos will conclude their Group A campaign on Sunday against one of the powerhouses of world football, Italy.
This is one game expected to be a true test of their strength and character in the tournament.
