ELM invites local artists to Amapiano and Hip-Hop auditions
The winners will have the opportunity to perform on the big stage at the Red Square DJ Knockout Festival on December 16 at Dickson Park.

SEDIBENG.- The Emfuleni Local Municipality’s (ELM) Arts and Culture Unit invites local artists to participate in the upcoming Amapiano and Hip-Hop auditions, made possible through the continued support of Halewood International SA (Red Square).
Over the years, Red Square’s partnership has helped showcase and develop emerging talent, particularly at the Annual Red Square DJ Knockout Festival, held on December 16 each year, where winners from the auditions have been featured.
In 2024, they successfully hosted the Amapiano Auditions on December 7 at 988 Carwash and Shisanyama, and the Hip-Hop Auditions on December 8 at Lefelong Café.
“Both events were well attended by local artists, venues, and community members, reflecting the growing interest and support for these initiatives. The enthusiasm demonstrated that there is still great potential to further develop the local arts sector,” Semakaleng Moeketsi, a Senior Officer for Arts and Culture in the ELM.
This year, local talent is invited to the following auditions:
- Amapiano Auditions: Saturday, December 6, from 08:00 to 12:00 at Amber Shisanyama, Zone 14, Sebokeng.
- Hip-Hop Auditions: Sunday, December 7, from 08:00 at Rhythm Lounge.
Registrations start at 08:00 until 10:00 at both venues on the respective days.
Please note that only fifty young participants between the ages of 18-35 will be accepted.
The winners will have the opportunity to perform on the big stage at the Red Square DJ Knockout Festival on December 16 at Dickson Park.
“We encourage all local artists to participate and take advantage of this exciting opportunity,” said Moeketsi.
