Sedibeng Disability Differently Able Community hosts Disability Awareness Month celebration

The organisation’s biggest challenge remains funding.

SHARPEVILLE.-Sedibeng Differently Able Community Organisation hosted Disability Rights Awareness Month. This celebration took place at Show House in Tshepiso Phase 1 on November 28.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Lerato Litlhakanyane, who is the chairperson of the organisation, said the event was a great success.

She told Sedibeng Ster that although Disability Rights Awareness Month is an annual celebration, the organisation’s biggest challenge remains funding. Litlhakanyane added that they host classes where they give those with disabilities challenging lessons from Monday to Friday at the centre.

“We are a non-profit organisation that depends on donations, and we can’t afford to buy food from Monday to Friday to feed those attending our classes. We teach them how to write. We make a special plea to the Good Samaritans out there to come on board. We want to thank the people who came to support our Disability Rights Awareness Month celebration. Mr Nhlapo, who is the founder of this organisation, is doing a great job at taking care of these people in the community. However, he needs your support to sustain this organisation,” said Litlhakanyane.
