Valentine’s victory for Sekhukhune United

Many believed that they would do the same to Sekhukhune United, but the home side had clearly done their homework.

VANDERBIJLPARK.- Sekhukhune United gave their fans the perfect Valentine’s Day gift on Saturday, cruising to a 3-0 win over Orbit College in the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC).

The match, held at the Isak Steyl Stadium, saw the home side put on a clinical performance that left local supporters delighted with the quality of football on display.

Sekhukhune United were ruthless from the opening whistle.

Their forwards were in unstoppable form, scoring three quick goals in the first half to put the game out of reach early on.

While Orbit College struggled to cope with the pressure in the opening stages, they deserve credit for their resilience.

Despite the heavy scoreline, they refused to throw in the towel and continued to fight until the very end.

The result came as a shock to many, especially after Orbit College recently beat the defending champions Kaizer Chiefs 4-1.

Many believed that they would do the same to Sekhukhune United, but the home side had clearly done their homework.

It seems United have finally found their rhythm. At the start of the season, they were giving away points like Santa Claus, but they now look like a team capable of finishing in the top eight.

The game was a classic game of two halves for the visitors.

Orbit College came out with better teams, especially in how they defend, compared to the first half.

In the first half, the defense of Orbit College was caught in sixes and sevens.

In the second half, it was much tighter at the back, and they prevented further damage. Sekhukhune United’s forwards had enjoyed far too much freedom in the first half, and they made sure to capitalise on every chance.

By the final whistle, the Isak Steyl Stadium was buzzing, as soccer fans enjoyed every moment of the high-energy encounter.
