Memeza Social Employment Fund launched in Sebokeng

The Councilor Sibongile Naapo of Ward 31, welcomed everyone present and appreciated the SEF for launching in Sebokeng area as most of the youth is unemployed and this initiative will encourage them to work hand in hand with the police.

During the keynote address Miss Rejoice Nkwanyana educated the attendees about Memeza Social Employment Fund.

By empowering communities through meaningful work by partnering with civil society, organizations and local stakeholders. SEF enables a true whole-of- society approach to delivering impact at scale across South Africa.”
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane said that through the SEF, Memeza community Safety has created over one thousand jobs by deploying Community Safety Ambassadors across three Regions in Gauteng, namely Sebokeng, Thembisa and Hammanskraal.

“Recruited locally, these Ambassadors conduct visible patrols, give support to residents, report illegal acts and GBV, ensure that matters are escalated to the SAPS and CPF through the Memeza digital platforms. In this way they’re driving safer communities while delivering meaningful employment. Memeza Community Safety together with their partners, SAPS, SEF IDC, Civilian Secretariat for Police and CPF. Their mission is to build safer communities through collaboration, innovation and community action. They will remain committed to fighting crime and gender based violence at its core. #Protecting lives. Empowering communities. Driving lasting impact.”
