Teixeira delivers a community centered pledge
DA Midvaal mayoral candidate Peter Teixeira launches a five-point pledge focused on service delivery, safety, infrastructure, economic growth and innovation.
MEYERTON — The DA’s mayoral candidate, Peter Teixeira, launched his five-point pledge to residents at the Meyerton Golf Club on August 29, highlighting the Midvaal Local Municipality’s strong record of clean governance and service delivery.
Senior DA figures attended the event, including Gauteng leader Solly Msimanga and DA Emfuleni mayoral candidate Kingsol Chabalala, alongside councillors, activists, and members from across Midvaal.
Teixeira delivered a strong message backed by the municipality’s recent successes, which include 12 consecutive clean audits, infrastructure investments, enhanced safety, and local economic opportunities.
Solly Msimanga originally announced Teixeira as the mayoral candidate in March, praising the municipality for building sustainable infrastructure and always putting residents first. Highlighting tangible results seen in daily life, Teixeira said that transparent and accountable governance has successfully attracted major investment to the area.
During the launch, Teixeira outlined his key plans for the next tenure, pledging to deliver excellent services, invest in safety and security, grow the economy through infrastructure development, create new opportunities, and build a smart, innovative municipality.
These pledges seek to connect Midvaal’s existing performance with the party’s electoral pitch to accelerate development rather than preserve current achievements.
According to the latest annual report, Midvaal recently received multiple South African Local Government Association awards.
The accolades recognised the municipality for overall performance, financial management, document and record management, consequence management, paying service providers within 30 days, and municipal grant management, reinforcing its status as one of the most financially stable local authorities in the country.
