Drama as Boipatong FC drop crucial points
The title race remains wide open as the season reaches its climax.
VANDERBIJLPARK.– Boipatong FC have only themselves to blame after missing the chance to extend their lead at the top of the SAFA Sedibeng Hollywoodbets league.
The table-toppers were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Moponisi United in a match filled with drama and controversy at Vanderbijlpark Hoërskool on Saturday.

The league leaders were gifted two perfect opportunities to secure the win, but they failed to convert a penalty in either half. A double save brilliantly stopped the first attempt from the Moponisi goalkeeper, while the second-half spot-kick was fired high over the crossbar.
Despite creating numerous other chances throughout the game, Boipatong FC simply could not find the back of the net. There was no shortage of drama, as expected, with both teams challenging for the league title.
There was a physical confrontation between two players in the second half, resulting in pushing and punching. The confrontation forced officials to halt the game for five minutes to restore order.

The tension spread to the stands, where supporters clashed after a Moponisi fan interfered with a Boipatong player taking a corner kick. Remarkably, once the final whistle blew, both sets of players and coaches put the hostility aside to shake hands.
The local fans who packed the venue left deeply disappointed.

The draw means Boipatong FC remains at the top of the log with 65 points. Ben 10 FC moved into second place with the same number of points after defeating Morning Stars 3-1 on Sunday. The two sides are now separated only by goal difference.

Elsewhere, VUT FC pulled off a surprise result by beating Perfect Academy in a thrilling match at George Thabe Stadium. Many expected Perfect Academy to win following their recent strong form, but VUT FC proved too strong on the day.
The title race remains wide open as the season reaches its climax. Fans can look forward to another massive clash this coming Saturday when Metro Stars host Ben 10 FC at Isak Steyl Stadium. It’s still game on, and every point counts.
