Xolani Mathumba hailed the festival games as a great success.
VANDERBIJLPARK.- It was action galore when Kaizer Chiefs, Rember Elite Sports Academy (RESA), Mamelodi Sundowns, and Panorama battled it out in the Gauteng Development League (GDL).
These games took place at the Curro Vanderbijlpark grounds on Saturday, with RESA as host.

The day’s programme started with an exciting match between RESA and Kaizer Chiefs U14, where Amakhosi’s babies managed to collect maximum points against RESA. It was a great advert for the development of football with both teams showcasing their talent.

Despite the defeat, it was not a walk in the park for Chiefs, as RESA threw everything at them. When everyone thought it would end in a goalless draw, Chiefs scored, finishing the game 1-0.
In another game, Mamelodi Sundowns U14 and Panorama played to a goalless draw.
This was the second fixture of the day, with Sundowns desperate to beat their opponents but failing to score. The young Brazilians dominated the game for the last 10 minutes, with Panorama defending with their backs to the wall. It was a great game of football to watch, with both teams showing the ability to keep possession of the ball.
Panorama was not a pushover as they matched Sundowns pounce-by-pounce.

The two teams are second and third on the log standings, with Kaizer Chiefs at the summit of the log.
The home team, RESA, is fourth on the log standings. Kaizer Chiefs U15 continued their dominance against RESA when they beat them 2-1 in the third game of the day.

Chiefs showed aggression on and off the ball, forcing RESA to play the ball either backward or side-to-side with penetration. They showed their physical domination over RESA.
Kaizer Chiefs completed their hat-trick over RESA when they beat them 1-0 in the last game of the day. This was the U19 league fixture, with Chiefs collecting nine points and remaining at the top of the log.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport after the game, RESA’s managing director Xolani Mathumba hailed the festival games as a great success.

He also thanked Curro Vanderbijlpark for hosting the development league matches.
