Kreative Misfits to host Vaal Creative Innovation Lab

The event also forms part of a broader movement aimed at positioning the Vaal as an emerging hub for cultural and creative industries.

SEDIBENG.- Kreative Misfits, in partnership with Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM), Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM), EasternVille Music and Majesty Comics have proudly announced the upcoming Vaal Creative Innovation Lab, taking place on June 20.

The event is a youth-focused creative platform designed to bring together culture, innovation, music, visual storytelling and urban expression under one dynamic experience.

“Rooted in the spirit of youth empowerment and creative development, the Vaal Creative Innovation Lab seeks to create meaningful opportunities for emerging creatives across the Vaal region,” the organisers said adding that the initiative combines the influence of Hip Hop culture with Anime-inspired creativity to encourage collaboration, self-expression, entrepreneurship and innovation amongst young people.

The event also forms part of a broader movement aimed at positioning the Vaal as an emerging hub for cultural and creative industries.

The programme will feature:

•            Hip Hop and creative culture engagement facilitated by EasternVille Music

•            Animation and comic book culture through character design, visual storytelling, illustration facilitated by Majety Comics.

•            Live music, performances and beat experiences facilitated by Raw Beats

•            Skateboarding and urban youth expression facilitated by Day Marumo

“We will also like to extend an open invitation to podcasters, photographers, videographers, content creators, media platforms, skateboarders and youth culture communities to participate, document and contribute to the experience.”
