Midvaal wins big at Gauteng Municipal Awards
Midvaal is the overall winner at the SALGA Gauteng Municipal Audit Awards, securing seven awards for excellence in service delivery, financial management, and good governance.
The Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) has emerged as the overall winner at the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) Gauteng Municipal Audit Awards. The municipality secured a total of seven awards across various categories for the 2024/2025 financial year.
Among its achievements, Midvaal was recognised for paying service providers within 30 days, reaching a performance achievement of over 80%, and utilising 100% of its grants for service delivery. The municipality was also praised for effectively implementing action plans to address previous audit findings and achieving a clean audit opinion for the financial year. Additionally, it took the first runner-up spot for environmental management and climate change.

Mayor Peter Teixeira says the awards are a testament to Midvaal’s commitment to service delivery excellence, sound financial management, and good governance. He added that the accolades reflect an accountable and environmentally responsible municipality committed to improving the lives of its residents.
