Learners sell carefully crafted products
Young entrepreneurs from Sebokeng Technical School showcased and sold handcrafted products during a June 10 exhibition, demonstrating the practical skills they have acquired through technical training.
SEBOKENG – Young entrepreneurs from Sebokeng Technical School turned their skills into business opportunities on June 10, showcasing and selling handcrafted products during an exhibition aimed at raising funds for the school.
The institution imparts technical skills to learners with Severe Intellectual Disability and Mild Intellectual Disability, offering them alternative skills training and enabling them to get into the corporate world and make a living despite their challenges.
The school held an exhibition showcasing various products, including cushions, shoe racks, TV stands, picnic tables, burglar doors, cellphone stands, and coffee tables, all created to perfection by students during their practicals.

Speaking to Ster North, Wood Work teacher Snenhlanhla Msimango said that it made her extremely proud to witness the hard work the kids put into their craft in order to make these everyday products and sell them to members of the community.
“What I have noticed about the students is the fact that they complain a lot when they have to learn, but they love doing the practicals. They become very enthusiastic when it comes to creating these different products.”
Msimango said that what makes her happy is the fact that these kids leave the school with skills, meaning they have a chance to become entrepreneurs or work for various companies.
The exhibition, held during the “It Takes a Village to Raise a Child” programme, exposed the work of the learners to hundreds of people who supported them by making purchases and congratulated the students on their professional work.
