SEDIBENG.- A 64-year-old male suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm, while a 44-year-old male suspect was arrested on charges of pointing a firearm and assault in a domestic violence related incident on Tuesday.

It is said that at approximately 00:50, members of the Fezile Dabi District Highway Patrol received information about a white VW Tiguan travelling on the N1 towards Sasolburg.

“It was alleged that the driver of the vehicle was wanted in connection with a case registered at Bainsvlei after he allegedly pointed a firearm at his wife and assaulted her,” police said.

Police conducted a waylay operation, and the vehicle was intercepted at Vaal Plaza.

 Upon stopping and searching the vehicle, officers found two male occupants. During the search, two firearms were recovered. One of the firearms, belonging to the second occupant, was found to be unlicensed.

The two suspects were arrested on separate charges.
