Tombstone discovered at an illegal Evaton dumping site
“This is not only illegal dumping; it is a desecration of our loved ones."
EVATON.- The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) employees made a gruesome discovery while cleaning an illegal dumping site during a service delivery lean-up programme in Kentucky Road, Evaton, yesterday, Friday.

The employees discovered a tombstone of Margaret Mhlongo who died on July 13, this year, dumped at the site.
It is written on the tombstone that she was born in 1941.

The office of ELM Mayor, Hassan Mako, said that the tombstone was handed over to the nearest police station for further investigation/s.
“This is not only illegal dumping; it is a desecration of our loved ones. We call on the community to respect our cemeteries and report any suspicious activity,” said Mako.
“Let us work together to protect the dignity of our communities and our departed.”
Evaton Police spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi, confirmed the discovery.
