SHARPEVILLE.- Relebohile Mofokeng won his first trophy with his new Belgian club, Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, yesterday, Friday.

The Sharpeville-born star came off the bench and helped his team lift the Belgian Super Cup.
Mofokeng’s side defeated Club Brugge 5-4 in a penalty shootout.

He calmly converted the winning penalty, delighting Belgian football fans. His celebration was also admired by supporters, as he paid tribute to his former Orlando Pirates teammate, Tshepang Moremi, who is also from Sharpeville.

After coming off the bench, Mofokeng once again dictated the tempo of the game with his intelligent passing and composure on the ball. He showed great confidence by stepping up to take the decisive penalty that secured the trophy for his team.

The victory marked Royale Union Saint-Gilloise’s first silverware of the new season.

Mofokeng’s parents shared their excitement on social media by posting a photo of their son lifting the trophy with the caption: “God is working again.”

Although Sedibeng Ster Sport predicted that Mofokeng would start the match, he made his appearance as a substitute and produced the kind of five-star performance for which he has become well known. He made an immediate impact after entering the field.

Since his move to Belgium, Mofokeng has attracted significant interest from the international media. He has continued the impressive form he displayed at the 2026 Fifa World Cup.
