The attempted murder and murder of police officers in this country is becoming a worrying trend.

Police are supposed to be our heroes and should be held in high esteem as they are there to protect us and not to be maimed like flies as is of late.
This is tragedy. The men and women in blue chose the most difficult of career fields, to safeguard us. They never hesitate for a single moment to put their own lives on the line to save that of another. We do not really understand what kind of sacrifice this entails, do we? If this status quo continues we are indeed in deep trouble. Crime control and order maintenance are the primary roles of the police and if they are killed while performing these duties, all of us should be worried. They help us in deterring illegal and dangerous behaviour. Apart from stopping crime, the men and women in blue play other bigger roles in our communities, such as helping us in times of crisis and emergency. The relationship between police and the public should be appreciated. There is a serious need for the public to assist police in doing their crucial work and we should be in a position to identify these culprits who are maiming the men and women in blue. Within the SAPS are our fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters. Many households have been left without breadwinners and this is going too far I therefore wish to take a stand and support a campaign that says, #STOPPOLICEKILLINGS.
This is enough, aren’t you with me?
