Karabo inspires matriculants

"I extend my deepest gratitude to Almighty God for this blessing and to everyone who has supported me throughout my academic journey."

SEBOKENG.- My name is Karabo Maduna. I reside at Eatonside, Sebokeng and I’m 18 years of age.

The subjects I chose are Life Sciences, Tourism, History and Maths Literacy, and next year I’m planning to further my studies by studying Law at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Regarding my future plans, I would like to be crowned Miss South Africa one day, as I am a pageantry model and the reigning Miss Teen Vereeniging. I would also like to open my own business named after my clan name, Gubevu.

During my Grade 10 year at Esokwazi Secondary School, I faced numerous challenges that tested my resilience. Despite excelling academically, I encountered disdain from classmates and judgement from a family member regarding my subject choices. Overcoming these obstacles required immense self-motivation. My perseverance paid off when I received the Best Learner Award in 2022. Now, as a Grade 12 student, I face new challenges – immense pressure and workload.

However, my hard work has yielded remarkable results, as I achieved the top position among my peers.

This accomplishment has instilled unwavering confidence, empowering me to stay true to myself and pursue my dreams and goals unapologetically. I am overwhelmed with pride and gratitude as I reflect on my exceptional academic achievement. Being ranked as the Top Learner in Grade 12 among my peers at school is an honour beyond measure.

This accomplishment is a testament to perseverance and dedication. Despite the challenges, I remained committed to my goals, and my hard work has yielded remarkable results. I extend my deepest gratitude to Almighty God for this blessing and to everyone who has supported me throughout my academic journey. This milestone serves as a reminder that determination and resilience can overcome even the most daunting obstacles.

I am humbled and proud to have achieved this distinction, and I look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead. Lastly, helping people to overcome the social issues that are negatively affecting our communities is my dream yet to be fulfilled.
