Vaal Monate FC crowned

EVATON. - Vaal Monate FC was crowned the Pooe Heritage Day Tournament champions after they beat Junior Palace FC 4-2 in the minutes-thriller final at the Beheman Rovers dusty soccer grounds in Evaton over the weekend.

Vaal Monate FC went smiling all the way to the bank after they received a cheque for R15 000 for their hard work, while Junior Palace FC pocketed R500. Vaal Monate reached the final after beating Bring Fisher FC 1-0 in the semi-finals while Junior Palace FC hammered the once fearful Celta Vigo FC 4-.

The final started like a house on fire with Vaal Monate FC throwing everything to their opponents. It was just a matter of time before they were rewarded with a beautiful goal. The game went to interval with Vaal Monate leading by 2-0. In the second half, Vaal Monate FC began where they left off in the second stanza when they increased the tally to 4-2.
The tournament coordinator Bhekani Mathebula was full of praise for the participating teams.Meanwhile, the junior soccer teams’ finals are scheduled to take place this Saturday at the same venue.
The day programme will start with the u/13 finals, u/15 finals and the u/17s will close the programme.
Mathebula was confident that the junior soccer teams’ finals will also be exciting, taking into consideration the teams that participated in the tournament.
Some of the high profile development teams that form part of the tournament include Celta Vigo, Nale Academy, SUBS, Sebokeng Academy, EYA, Worries, oOherwise and Sebokeng Ajax.
