Maqabe scoops Most Spirited Fighter of the tournament award

SEDIBENG. - Sensei Buti Maqabe hoisted the Sedibeng flag high when he was voted The Most Spirited Fighter at the Standliboyama/National Karate Championship held in Swaziland over the weekend. This was after he produced a five star performance in the heavy-weight division.

He was the best South African fighter at the tournament.  To add more feathers to his cap Sensei Maqabe also made Sedibeng proud when he finished in third position in the U/80kg men. Speaking to  Sedibeng Ster Sport on his arrival from Swaziland, Maqabe said he dedicates his two trophies to the Sedibeng people for always supporting him.

“This is the result of hard work because I came to this tournament well prepared and results are there for everyone to see. I want to thank the Sedibeng people for their support,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sensei Maqabe revealed to <i>Sedibeng Ster Sport that he also used the tournament as part of his preparation for the Karate World Cup scheduled to take place in Japan on November 26-27. He also thanks his karate club students for their contribution to his success. They are Bongani Mokwai, Lerato Mohanwe, Sammy Makgetha and Thabiso Molapo.
