SEBOKENG.- It was a day of non-stop action at the Saul Tsotetsi Sports Centre in Zone 14 as the Sedibeng Volleyball Association hosted its first league games of 2026 on Saturday.

Teams travelled from across the region, including Midvaal, VUT, NWU Vaal, and Emfuleni, to battle it out. These matches serve as a build-up to the official league season. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Joseph Manzi said more than 10 teams took part. He explained that the event was designed to encourage local clubs to join the Sedibeng Volleyball Association’s League.

Manzi described the weekend games as a great success, especially given the high turnout. He believes this was a great start and is already looking forward to the next games.  The next set of games will be at Ratanda Multipurpose Centre in Heidelberg this coming Saturday. He confirmed all the Sedibeng Volleyball teams will be there.

The association plans to visit the three municipalities to recruit more volleyball teams in their communities.

Manzi said they expect even more teams this time around, as interest in the league continues to grow.

“These games are part of our build-up before the start of the league. We will leave no stone unturned to make sure we recruit more teams to join the Sedibeng Volleyball Association’s League. We want to have more teams involved to make this league truly competitive,” he concluded.
