The Richards Bay co-coach recently caused a massive stir in the Betway Premiership when his side defeated the mighty Kaizer Chiefs. While the result shocked many, those who know Zothwane’s history aren’t surprised by his success.
This former Golden Arrows and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder is not a beginner; he has been coaching in the Motsepe Foundation Championships, formerly the National First Division League.
Some of the teams under his coaching expertise include Golden Arrows Reserves, Magesi, and Polokwane City.
The Bophelong-born coach returned to his roots in the Vaal recently to complete his CAF Coaching License practical, proving his dedication to the craft.
This well-spoken Bophelong-born coach is one of the upcoming coaches eager to make a name for themselves in South African football. Since he took over as Richards Bay as co-coach, the team has been enjoying the run in the Betway Premiership.
Under Zothwane and Gabriel’s leadership, Richards Bay has become a nightmare to many PSL team in the league.
Despite his rising fame, Zothwane remains humble and grounded, traits that have earned him respect across the league. When asked for interviews, his immediate response was “Coach Ronnie is the one who is responsible for interviews.”
His former coach, Manqoba Mngqithi, always rated him highly, describing Zothwane as one of the most coachable players in the game.
