Everything on the line in PSL finale
If Pirates had won against Durban City, they would have secured the title.

SEDIBENG.- The Betway Premier Soccer League 2025/2026 season is coming to a close, and there is still everything to play for.
Mamelodi Sundowns is the only team that has completed its league matches for the season, as the club is also participating in the CAF Champions League final. The rest of the PSL teams are expected to wrap up their fixtures during the midweek and over the weekend.
There is plenty at stake…
Aside from Orlando Pirates challenging for the league title, there is plenty at stake for the other clubs. Pirates were expected to be crowned league champions over the weekend, but they blew their chance when Durban City held them to a 0-0 draw at Orlando Stadium. If Pirates had won against Durban City, they would have secured the title. Instead, they now face a monumental task away from home against Orbit College.
This is the must-win game for Pirates. If they fail to win, Sundowns will be crowned champions. Pirates cannot afford a draw or a loss. They must win this match, which seems like a mission impossible as they are playing away against a team desperate to avoid relegation.
Immense pressure on both…
Orbit College is currently languishing second from the bottom of the table, and a win against Pirates would see them move away from the relegation zone. There is immense pressure on both Orbit College and Orlando Pirates, as well as the rest of the PSL teams.
With all remaining teams having just one match left, the stakes go far beyond the league championship and relegation. Players across the league are fighting for their own futures, with Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos expected to announce his preliminary squad for the World Cup.
A repeat of 2010 FIFA World Cup…
South Africa will face Mexico, South Korea, and Czechia in Group A, starting their World Cup campaign against Mexico. This is a repeat of the 2010 FIFA World Cup fixture when the two nations played out a 1-1 draw in South Africa.
This upcoming round of matches means all PSL players have something incredibly important to play for alongside their respective club goals. This is their final chance to raise their hands and earn selection to the preliminary World Cup squad, a dream for every player.
Beyond the crucial Pirates and Orbit College match that will decide the league title, every single remaining game is a vital opportunity for players to impress Broos before his announcement.
Even while fighting for survival at the bottom of the table, the Orbit College players share the same dream of playing in the World Cup as everyone else in the PSL.
There is truly everything to play for in this final stretch.
