SEDIBENG.- Another Vaal youngster was a winner at the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Awards recently.
The Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana forward Tshepang ‘Buda’ Moremi was named the MTN8 Last Man Standing.
This speedy forward was rewarded for his outstanding performance in the MTN8 Cup, helping Pirates win this past season.

To make it even more interesting, his homeboy, Relebohile Mofokeng, was also a big winner at the PSL Awards, walking away with three awards: PSL Footballer of the Season, Player’s Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season.
These Sharpeville-born youngsters were outstanding for Orlando Pirates, which saw the team crowned the PSL champions. The two were also part of the Bafana Bafana team that made history by reaching the Fifa World Cup 2026 Last 32 for the first time.
Back to Moremi, when he joined Pirates at the beginning of the last season, not many gave him a chance.
He had a bad start and was booed by the club’s supporters.
However, he proved many wrong when he started to gel with the rest of the team and became a superstar for the club. This MTN8 Cup performance made many sit back and admire his incredible performance in the competition. This is the same performance that saw him being named the MTN8 Last Man Standing.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Moremi said he is looking forward to the new season, which kicks off this weekend. He said he will begin where he left off last season, helping the team defend their title.
“I really want to thank everyone who voted for me for this award. This serves as motivation for me to achieve more this season. I’m looking forward to winning more trophies with the club. It is not going to be easy, but we are ready,” he said.
Moremi said that as a team they are going to miss Relebohile Mofokeng, who is making headlines for his Belgian team Royale Union Saint-Gilloise. Moremi told Sedibeng Ster Sport that Mofokeng played a huge role in Pirates’ success last season, and it is not going to be easy without him.
Moremi said Mofokeng’s magic inspired the team last season.
