Sharpeville young star on mission with stunning Betway Premiership opener
It is Moremi’s turn to shine.
SHARPEVILLE.- Tshepang Moremi looks like a man on a mission this season after his outstanding performance for Orlando Pirates in the opening Betway Premiership match against the PSL newcomers, Milford.
Pirates started their campaign on a high note at the packed Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday. Moremi came to party when he scored his first goal of the season in the 85th minute, making the final score 2-0.
His Bafana Bafana teammate Oswin Appollis opened the scoring on 24 minutes, giving the Mighty Buccaneers a lead.
Moremi, who was named the MTN8 Last Man Standing at the PSL Awards, continued where he left off last season. This Sharpeville-born Bafana Bafana speedy forward was instrumental in Pirates being crowned the PSL champions last season.
He was instrumental not only for Pirates, but also for Bafana Bafana at the Fifa World Cup 2026. He was one of the standout performers for Bafana Bafana, which saw South Africa qualify for the Last 32 for the first time.
His performance was inspired by his homeboy, Relebohile Mofokeng.

Mofokeng scored the deciding penalty, much to the delight of his teammates and the club’s supporters, when he converted it like a seasoned campaigner bothered with confidence. This performance could have inspired his former teammate, Moremi, who happens to come from the same hood.
He will be rewarded at the end of the season.
If Moremi continues with this performance, there is no doubt that he will be rewarded at the end of the season.
It is Moremi’s turn to shine at the PSL Awards, just like Mofokeng.
The two grew up playing against each other at a young age, with Mofokeng playing for Celeb Youth Academy and Moremi for Sharpeville Benfica FC. However, when they competed against each other, little did they know that one day they would be household names in South African football, playing for the same club and later also for Bafana Bafana.
It won’t be a surprise if the two eventually find themselves playing together at Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium.
