SEDIBENG.- European’s Vaal-based young stars Thapelo Maseko and Relebohile Mofokeng are set to join the rest of the Bafana Bafana squad on Wednesday for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifier match against Guinea.

This much-anticipated fixture is scheduled to take place at the Orlando Amstel Arena in Soweto on Saturday.

This will be the first assignment for the newly appointed Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane.

Mosimane has recalled 95% of Hugo Broos’s players.

Mofokeng and Maseko were part of Broos’s players who made history when Bafana Bafana qualified for the Last 32 of the FIFA World Cup 2026 for the first time. This Vaal duo and other European-based players are expected to arrive on Wednesday.

Luther Singh and Samukele Kabini were the first two overseas-based players to arrive at the training camp. Mofokeng was involved in his Belgian side, Royale Union Saint-Gilloise’s victory against Royal Antwerp FC on September 19.

He was all over Belgian media headlines following this performance.

It followed his stunning goal in his UEFA Europa League debut against Viktoria Plzeň FC. 

Mofokeng, who is in great form for Saints-Gilloise, started the game, gave an assist, and delivered an accurate cross from the left side. He has been in great form for Saints-Gilloise since the first day he put on the jersey.

Maseko secured his move to Danish side FC Copenhagen.
