Security company owner arrested in Vanderbijlpark, after being found in possession of vehicles allegedly used in failed CIT heist
A man has been nabbed after being found in possession of vehicles suspected to have been used in a failed CIT heist near Boipatong.
VANDERBIJLPARK. – A 45-year-old security company owner appeared at the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court on Friday for possession of hijacked vehicles alleged to have been used in failed cash-in-transit heist.
The incident happened along Frikkie Meyer Boulevard near Boipatong on Tuesday.
Police Spokesperson Captain Lloyd Ramovha reports that A G4S armoured vehicle was rammed twice from behind by a charcoal Mercedes Benz.
“The driver veered off the road into the nearby bushes. Shots were allegedly fired at the armoured truck. A group of armed suspects surrounded the stuck truck and instructed the guards to alight.” Ramovha states that the guards were disarmed of their firearms.
“The suspects then tried to blow up the armoured vehicle with explosives without success. They sped-off the scene empty-handed using several vehicles.

“A crack team led by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime, Sedibeng Crime Intelligence, Tactical Response Team and K9 Unit was established. On Thursday afternoon, the team pounced at an address along Fowler Street in Vanderbijlpark.
“Two of the vehicles, a white Audi A3, blue Hyundai Tucson suspected to have been used as getaway vehicles were recovered from the address. Further investigation led to the confiscation of six (6) 9mm pistols, bullet-proofs and reflective jackets.”
The Gauteng Provincial Head of the Hawks Major General Ebrahim Kadwa has welcomed the arrest and appreciated the investigation team for their relentless effort.
