SEDIBENG.- Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Mayor Hassan Mako is proving to be a driving force for positive change by focusing on both service delivery and local sports development in the region.

In a recent boost for local football, Mako visited the newly promoted ABC Motsepe League clubs, Ben 10 FC and Boipatong FC, to donate essential soccer equipment ahead of their upcoming seasons.

Both clubs will proudly represent the Sedibeng region and play their home games at the Boipatong Stadium and Shakespeare Stadium, which are currently undergoing upgrades in preparation for the 2026/2027 season.

This gesture follows Mako’s recent celebration dinner hosted to honour local Bafana Bafana stars Relebohile Mofokeng, Thapelo Maseko, and Tshepang Moremi after the trio represented South Africa at the Fifa World Cup 2026.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Vusimuzi Nkwenja, the head of scouting and operations for Boipatong FC, said this is the first time a mayor has personally donated equipment to local clubs.

Nkwenja highlighted that the contribution arrives at a crucial time when the team faces challenges with training gear.

“As Boipatong FC, we want to take this opportunity to show appreciation to the mayor for this donation. We won’t disappoint you, and every game we play will be dedicated to you. On behalf of the players, coaches and management, we say pele ya pele,” said Nkwenja.
