MEYERTON – A video showing a cop allegedly involved in a heated shop incident has set social media abuzz.

The uniformed officer is seen standing near the counter as the shop owner pulls money from the cash register.

Moments later, the situation appears to take a turn when the officer tries to pull one of the people inside the shop.

The footage also captures a moment when money is offered to the officer, but he appears to refuse.

“Come and take the money. You always come this side and take money and a cold drink,” one of the occupants in the store was heard saying in the video.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remains unclear, and it has not been confirmed whether the officer is attached to the Meyerton Police Station.

Ster tried to obtain clarity on the matter, but the local police spokesperson could not confirm the incident.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has also been contacted for comment.

At the time of going to print, Vaalweekblad had not received a response from IPID.
