WATCH: Mother shares heartbreak over yet another postponement of ‘Jumperz’ case

"It's been five long years and we need closure. We can not take this any longer," said Atish's distraught mother, Indrani.

DUE to Ugu’s planned water shutdown today (Tuesday) the case involving the death of Atish ‘Jumperz’ Sewraj was once again postponed.

It’s been five long years since the Sewraj family lost their only son.

The driver allegedly responsible for the death of the 16-year-old, appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court today.  The case was postponed to February 14.

 

Atish, a grade 12 pupil at Marburg Secondary, was killed in a motor vehicle accident in Marine Drive, Shelly Beach in November 2012.
He died in hospital after the driver of the car lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a tree.

In court this week State Prosecutor, Rubeun Judnarain said the case has been on the role for a long time. “It has been one of the longest cases in court and the Sewraj family needs closure,” he said.

“We hope that this matter is settled and justice is served. It’s been five long years and we need closure. We can not take this any longer,” said Atish’s distraught mother, Indrani.

THE Sewraj family of Marburg is still waiting for closure after their only child was killed in an accident in Marine Drive, Shelly Beach, five years ago.

Pravin and Indrani Sewraj lost their only child, Atish ‘Jumperz’ Sewraj (16) when he was killed in a motor vehicle accident in November 2012.

The driver allegedly responsible for the death appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrates’ Court on Monday this week but the case was postponed due to there being no water at the court. The case was postponed to November 14 and 15 for trial.

Atish was a grade 12 pupil at Marburg Secondary. He died in hospital after the driver of the car in which he was a passenger lost control of the vehicle and it slammed into a tree.

Police have since investigated a culpable homicide docket.
