SOUTHBROOM
For the first time in its history, Southbroom has won the premier division of the Kingfisher Bowling Association’s Saturday League.
The team only entered the KBA Saturday Leagues in 2020, in the fourth division.
They ascended to the premier division in successive years, wobbled a bit but managed to avoid relegation, and have finally triumphed.
Not to be outdone, the Southbroom ladies’ A team has won the second division of the Saturday League and has been promoted.


The men’s B team finished second in its league and the ladies’ B team third in theirs.
In the All-KZN men’s fours, the team of Cleve Walker, Alan Booth, Vernon Clements and Osie Osborne won bronze, a fine achievement in a high-quality field of 60 teams.
They went down in the semi-finals to the eventual champions which included Protea bowler Wayne Roberts.
Winning the JL Panelbeaters’ men’s fours on June 19 were Peter Griffiths, Clinton Edmonds, Dillon Schoeman and Dale Riddle.
In second place were league leaders Ross Ferguson, Mike Thompson, Ron Weddell and Shane Nienaber, with Manny Rodrigues, Johan du Preez, Theo Vorster and Mike Dunn in third.

MARGATE
The club’s drawn men’s champs, played on June 20 and 21, was won by Gerhard Balzer and Chippy Louw, from Steve Blundell and Dup van Staden.
Women’s winners were Jenny Louw and Judy van Staden, from Annette Symes and Moira Faure.
The Ken Tonge sponsored ladies’ trips on June 19 was won by Carol Roodt, Pam Nothard and Kobie Ritchie.
Runners-up were Jenny Louw, Marjeanne Fensham and Barbara Egan.
Session went to Claire Oliver, Mandy Isiksen and Lynn Faure.
Lucky draw was won by Mini Grobler.
Visitors and new bowlers invited to join members on Sunday mornings at 09:00. Flat-soled shoes are a requisite.

THE BELL
The 3rd Avenue Restaurant mixed trips was won by Johan Labuschagne, Dillon Schoeman and Luhane von Beneke.
In second place were Bob Corringham, Charmaine van der Westhuizen and Deserai Maartens.
Third place went to Clinton Knott, Marian Knott and Jason Knott.

TWENI
The Harbourview Superspar mixed pairs were won by Jing Eltringham and Dumisani Mdlala.
Runners-up were Robbie Duyts and Rosemary Ludwig.
Session went to to Don and Shirley Russouw.
