The municipal offices were inaccessible on Tuesday this week after a large pile of sand was used to block the entrance.

According to the IFP chief whip, Simphiwe ‘Jika’ Mthethwa, the entrance was blocked on his arrival in the morning.

Mthethwa and the IFP have accused the ANC-led municipality of corruption and mismanagement.

According to Mthethwa, the reason for a protest outside the municipality was because Dlamini’s contract expired last Sunday, but she was at work on Monday this week, and no one explained why she was still there.

MK and IFP members blocked the entrance to the municipality.

“She has been captured by the ANC and has been following their instructions and not bothered by the people’s needs. That is why we had to be here and shut down the municipality. Dlamini has been taking orders from the ANC and ignoring the rest of the council. Members of the council were expelled because they were against how the ANC did things in this municipality. “

Umzumbe Municipality’s spokesperson, Sabelo Ncwane, issued a statement dismissing the allegations that the Acting Municipal Manager’s stay at Umzumbe was illegal.

“It is well-known that Dlamini’s contract expired on April 28. The community must also know that Dlamini was seconded to Umzumbe Municipality by KZN Cogta after the council failed to appoint a Municipal Manager within a period of six months after the declaration of the vacancy. “

He said to ensure the stability of the municipality, a letter was received from the MEC of Cogta, Bongi Sithole-Moloi, directing the mayor of Umzumbe (Nyuswa) that the secondment of Dlamini has been extended from April 29 to August 31.

Sand was piled outside the Umzumbe municipal office on Tuesday morning this week.
