ISLAMIC School held its annual fund-raising dinner at the Civic Centre last Saturday evening, where the 400 guests were treated to a sumptuous six course meal.
The guest speaker, acting judge, Advocate Aslam Motala, an inspirational and eloquent orator, captivated the audience with his talk on the purpose of knowledge. He pointed out that teaching should be based on wholesome moral values which should not be just a ceremonial husk, and the need to respond to a higher calling.
The board of governors and the organising committee convey their gratitude to all those who contributed to this successful event.
The school also played host to the SA National Halaal Authority (Sanha) last Friday where theologians discussed the need to make healthy food choices within the parameters of religious dictates. An interesting question and answer session enabled pupils to clear up ‘grey areas’ regarding food choices.
