GRADE 4 to 9 pupils were challenged to present their research findings at a science and technology exhibition held on Friday, August 16. Interesting displays on hydroelectric power, bubble-making and tornadoes were assembled and nine pupils were selected to represent the school at the AMS Science & Technology Expo at the Phoenix Muslim School in Durban on August 21. Sulaimaan Gani brought honour to the school by clinching first position in the grade 4 category.
The school’s U13 cricket team was privileged to be coached by Shareen Ahmed Ebrahim, a talented cricketer and an attorney by profession. Mr Ebrahim has pledged his support to serve as the cricket coach and the school is grateful for his voluntary service and generosity, sacrificing his time to ‘give back to the community’.
The Islamic School’s karate kids are moving up the ladder and have graduated to the 2nd grade. Sensei Krish Reddy has commenced the second round of the beginners’ class and karate classes are held at school on Saturday mornings. Sensei Krish and his team have their sights set on achieving the much sought after black belt.
