HIBBERDENE Academy’s highlight of the year was the opening of a new science laboratory by Mr Stan Rau, a director of Illovo Sugar. It represented many months of coordination, planning and working ‘behind the scenes’ to accomplish what is a major event in the history of the school. Recognition given by the major industrial, agricultural and business companies on the South Coast is extremely heart-warming for the school. It means that the academy is recognised as an important element in the South Coast school community offering the full spectrum of subjects and contributing to the future of the Hibberdene, Mathulini and Mzumbe communities.
Gratitude and appreciation to all the millers and farmers, as well as the Hibberdene Business Forum for contributions and support. With the acquisition of the science lab, Hibberdene Academy has reached an important milestone and can now offer even more subjects to pupils. The school has come a long way in a few short years and looks forward to expanding.
