A MAN was hacked to death and a woman injured when an angry mob attacked their home in Madakane, Murchison last Friday.
The man (63) and his girlfriend (56) were getting ready to go to bed at about 8pm when they heard a loud bang on the door.
“The door was forced open and they saw a group of about 20 people in the yard, armed with various weapons,” said police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
“The group of people then allegedly started hitting the man over the head. They struck his girlfriend as well but she managed to escape. The man’s head was slashed with a bushknife and he died at the scene,” said Lt-Col Wiid.
The injured woman was taken to hospital.
By yesterday (Wednesday) it had not been confirmed what the reason for the attack was.
No one has been arrested as yet. Detective Warrant Officer Bheki Ngeleka is investigating.
The man could not be named as his family must still identify the body. His family is believed to be from Bizana.
