SOUTHCITY Christian College grade 11 pupils went on a camp at Skogheim during the last week of term three. Sleeping in tents and all the time spent outdoors was quite challenging for some, yet thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The group activities developed and challenged pupils to help them realise their own potential. While the ‘sleeping mamba’ proved to be very frustrating, the ‘glow rockets’ and ‘ski races’ challenged other areas of teamwork.
The fashion show was a highlight of the camp and teams had to create and model evening wear, superhero and ‘gangster-style’ outfits out of black bin bags, newspaper and sticky tape.
The pupils were privileged to have the valuable leadership input, insights and skills of Trevor Downham, Harry Lourens and Callum Mc Leod.
By the end of the week, parents collected exhausted, but happy campers. The camp was successful in growing the school’s matric team of 2014. A huge thank you to all involved.
