FORTY-NINE keen senior history pupils and two teachers went on tour to Johannesburg and Pretoria, where the Apartheid Museum brought home the message of a harsh system unknown to the pupils.
One day was also spent at the Hector Pietersen Museum and Mandela House in Soweto and both venues provided excellent information on the struggle against apartheid. A visit to the Military Museum followed and it houses an amazing collection of aircrafts, tanks, rifles and swords.
In Pretoria, the group visited the Voortrekker Monument and Paul Kruger House, both being great sites which explain the struggles of the Afrikaner people. The last trip was to the James Hall Transport Museum which contains a large collection of carriages, trams and cars dating back to 1903.
Basketball was played against Pinetown Boys and Holy Family College. The 1st team cricket beat Southcity by 96 runs and the Southern Natal team by 78 runs. Mixed results from the boys’ 1st and 2nd team touch rugby fixtures that took place against St Benedict’s, Kloof, Kingsway, Westville Boys and Amazimtoti.
